Logic Dots Review

When Battleship and Sudoku came together it resulted in Logic Dots for iOS, iPhone, iPad, and Android. This game, developed by Matias Ini of ingames.tv and published by Ayopa Games, is a gem that shines brightly thanks to its unique and exciting puzzles.

Every stage is basically a four-sided grid filled with tiles. You will put either a dot or a square in the said tiles. Every line requires a particular number of dots. Squares will come in handy as it is a gentle note to yourself that nothing should be put there. Good thing, the developer of Logic Dots takes some pressure off to the players by introducing them first to a 4 x 4 square grid.

You can’t win without a good strategy and without a good logic, so the main idea is to create dot shapes in a logical manner. If you want to succeed in the later stages, where the playing area can end up as huge as a 12 x 12 board, you need to come up with a strategy.

You can make mistakes, that’s something natural, and Logic Dots allows you to do that since there are unlimited undo. It’s nice to see this mechanic implemented here and the fact that you can also access hints makes the whole experience even better. I tell you, you are going to need those hints. If you figure the puzzle out without using hints, it’s definitely rewarding.

Also, the game has a tutorial that is easy to understand. Further, thanks to the Game Center integration, there’s always the opportunity to reach for achievements and compare or even compete with others as you try to improve your score. Lastly, the presentation of this game is silky smooth. Although it tries to be minimalist, the graphics are in high quality.

The only drawback I see is the lack of auto-save functionality. When you are in a big puzzle game and you accidentally went out of the app, you will lose progress. I hope it gets addressed on the next update.

All in all, Logic Dots is an impressive puzzle game for iOS and Android. Although there is a bit of grinding, you can unlock level packs via in-app purchases. Download this puzzler on the App Store (iPhone, iPad) or on the Play Store.
